Heavy rains have led to the implementation of 'march of safety' on eight Metro lines in Mexico City, causing significant delays and passenger discomfort. Authorities advise to plan travel accordingly.

Heavy Rains Cause Disruptions in Mexico City Metro

On Tuesday morning, rains in the capital caused disruptions in the service of the Metro CDMX, where a so-called 'march of safety' was implemented on at least eight lines, resulting in delays, prolonged stops, and user complaints at various stations. Through its official channels, the transport system reported that due to weather conditions, trains are reducing their speed and making momentary stops to ensure passenger safety. Slow advance on several lines due to rain According to the Metro report, the march of safety was activated on lines 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 12, A, and B, where train movement is considerably slower than usual. Users of Line 9, for example, reported waits of up to 10 minutes at stations like Jamaica and between the Chabacano and Lázaro Cárdenas stretches, with constant stops between stations. On Line 3, heading towards Indios Verdes, passengers denounced that trains remain stopped for up to five minutes per station, which has caused saturation on platforms and in cars. Complaints about delays and conditions in cars The disruptions were not limited to travel time. Users also pointed out problems within the trains, such as fans on that generate discomfort, as well as the presence of men in cars exclusive to women, mainly on Line 3. In response to these reports, the Metro asked users to provide specific information, such as the car number, to channel incidents to the operational or security area. Despite the delays, the agency reiterated that all lines remain open and offering full service, albeit under special operating conditions due to the rain. Authorities recommended that users take precautions with their travel times, as while the precipitation continues, the advance of the trains will continue to be slow in much of the network.
